Introduction
This is a simple web site design maximizing the use of CSS and XHTML. This is very important as a web designer, CSS allows us the freedom of design without limits and the constraints that HTML once had. Particularly here, I used white space in abundance to really push its importance in web design. Many of my web and graphic designs take this approach and style of design. Sharp-clean-simple.
Biography
Hi there. My name is Steven and I'm a 10 year web and graphic design professional from Monterey, California.
I was born and raised in Salinas, CA. Went to school at the local cc, Hartnell where I began my journey into obtaining degrees in Art and Computer Science. Out of Hartnell, I landed a job in the Silicon Valley with a dot.bomb company call Metricom Inc., developers of Ricochet wireless. After a short career there, employment became bleak so I came back home and started my own design studio, Imperial Interactive. It was then I began to really find my own style, and began a 7 year journey specializing in logos, letterhead, corporate identity, web design and print design.
With the popularity of multimedia growing through the Internet, Macromedia's Flash was quickly becoming the the cornerstone for the next generation of designers, and concurrently, the building blocks for my next company and the new chapter in my life. Interactive Wedding Invitations was now my life's passion, and the road to financial freedom and entrepreneurship on a national level. The concept was a wedding invitation on a compact disc, meant to be played on a computer, that was to be in lieu of a traditional, paper wedding invite. The disc included interactive sections like Our Story, Photo Album, Guest Planning, email R.S.V.P., Video, online Gift Registry, Maps and Directions to and from the ceremony and reception, Local Weather for out of town guests, and of course Contact Info. I worked VERY hard, but it was a long and expensive road, and in the end did not turn out as I had hoped. Lack of working capital kept me from continuing, and thus taking me back into the professional workforce.
